Matilija Lending Library has a large back lot area that’s available for private parties, celebrations, meetings, workshops, and more!

Back lot size: ~6010sq feet

  • Max capacity (seated): ~80

  • Max capacity (standing): ~140

  • Please note that adding tables and canopies may reduce the overall capacity.

  • Available equipment:

    • 6ft Tables - 6

    • Card Tables - 4

    • Steel folding chairs - 30

    • Stools - 30

    • Event speaker with two microphones

    • Wi-Fi is available for free

  • Rental Rate for 2025 (3 hour minimum; includes back lot and restroom)

  • Please include time needed for set up or clean up.

    • Fridays and Saturdays: $125 for the first hour and $100 for each additional hour.

    • Sundays: $200 for the first hour, and $100 for each additional hour.

    • Weekdays: $150 for the first hour, and $50 for each additional hour.

    • Indoor Space: $100 flat rate fee to close the indoor space during your event.

  • Food and drinks: You’re welcome to bring in your own catering. Please communicate with us first if you will be using a generator.

  • Alcohol: private events are allowed to have alcohol. Alcoholic sales is not permitted.

  • No Smoking or vaping anywhere on the property.

  • Trash: We have limited trash disposal services. Please try to limit use of plastic, Styrofoam, or other disposables.

At Matilija Lending Library, we believe in cultivating a warm, respectful, and inclusive space for all. When renting our space, we ask that all guests honor our shared values by treating the space, books, and each other with care.

Please be mindful of noise levels, clean up after your event, and leave the space better than you found it. We do not tolerate any form of hate, discrimination, or harassment. Our library is rooted in community care—let’s work together to keep it magical, welcoming, and safe for everyone.
